As the corporate sector is becoming more concerned with and interested in maintaining employee health, corporate fitness jobs are opening up. If you are a certified personal corporate fitness jobstrainer, or are considering this career path, you should be aware of the pros and cons of corporate fitness jobs.

Pros of corporate fitness jobs

If you embark upon a fitness job with a large company, you may be managing the health, fitness and exercise of its employees. You may be a program director or manager of a gym or facilities which are in house and you will be in charge of various aspect of running the place, including buying equipment. Or you may be a hand-on fitness trainer. Regardless of which one of the fitness positions you may hold, there are many pros of this kind of job, some of them being:

  • You are assured of regular work, which may be full-time or part-time.

  • You may be on the payroll of the company, which means that you will be entitled to benefits similar to those of other employees.

  • You will get job satisfaction helping others maintain their health and fitness levels.

  • If an employee of the company, you will be in line for pay increases.

  • You will be entitled to vacation time.

  • Freedom to select various programs and exercise routines for the employees.

While you are working in a job, you also have to put up with the cons of the job. These include:

  • You will need to keep to a strict time schedule.

  • You need to be fit and healthy yourself to teach others and also make time for your own exercise schedule.

  • You may not be able to progress or profit as fast as you would have with your own personal trainer business.

  • If you are working full-time, you may not be allowed to take on private clients.

  • If you are a manager or director, you may get caught up in administrative work rather than doing hands on fitness training.

  • As you will have to cater to various people, you may not be able to specialize in any particular aspect of physical fitness that you want to.
